China Glaze: Fall 2016 Rebel Collection Swatches & Review
Happy Thursday ladies and gents! Hope you are all enjoying your week! Today I have China Glaze’s new collection to share with you. This is their Fall 2016 Collection called Rebel, so naturally it’s full of moody, dark shades, sure to please the 90s grunge-lover in us all! So turn up some Nirvana and get out your oversize plaid flannel and check out these capricious darlings!
Jagged Little Teal (that name!) is a peacocky teal creme. 2 coats.
Dope Taupe is a purple-toned muted taupe. 2 coats.
Pearl Jammin’ has slightly dusky icy blue base with a strong copper shimmer. It reminds me of Dashboard Dreamer but with more prevalent shimmer and a little on the sheer side in comparison although still not sheer. 2 coats.
Fresh Prince-ss is a light pink creme. A bit on the thin side, I would suggest using thin coats to prevent pooling. 2 coats.
Don’t Mesh With Me has a sheer blue jelly base with sparse color-shifting shimmer that changes from gold to pink to purple. I’m not a huge fan of this, I don’t really understand how to wear it. It seems like a dark base would be too dark for the shimmers to shine through but it has a tinted base itself so it’s odd to wear over a light color. If you know of a good layering option, let me know! I did 2 coats over Fresh Prince-ss.
Holo At Your Girl has sparkly gold shimmer with blue and green microglitter bits in a clear base. Funnily enough, it’s not holo, just sparkly. I did one coat over Pretty Serious Cosmetics Under Dunders.
Purple Fiction is a metallic reddened purple that is extremely shimmery. 2 coats.
Heroine Chic has a charcoal metallic/frosted base with sparse reddish orange microglitter bits mixed in. 2 coats.
Combat Blue-ts has a royal blue base with pink and blue shimmer that dries down completely matte and it does so really quickly. When it’s matte, you can’t see the shimmer but a coat of top coat recitifies that if you want it to be more visible. I did 2 coats without top coat here.
I also tried it with top coat so here is one coat of top coat over 2 layers of Combat Blue-ts.
Teen Spirit has a blackened purple base with lots of purple and blue shimmer. 2 coats but it’s a one-coater.
Y’all Red-y For This? is a warm red with lots of golden and red shimmer, so much so, it gives it a bit of a metallic feel. 2 coats but it’s a one-coater.
Blue-Ya has a blackened blue base with lots of blue and green shimmer. 2 coats but this is another one-coater.
Overall: China Glaze has been killing it with their collection this year. They’ve all been absolutely flawless. While this one is nice, it doesn’t wow me like their other collections this year have. That being said, the colors are lovely and the inspiration and names are on point. So much fun!
China Glaze can be purchased at tons of different places including Ulta, Sally Beauty, Transdesign and lots of other retailers and E-tailers. Don’t forget to follow China Glaze on Facebook and Instagram to keep up to date with new colors and collections!
