Hello loves!  Today I have a new collection from Dollish Polish!  These are all inspired by cartoons!  Take a little walk back in time with me and check out these sparkly, nostalgic pretties!

“Care Bear Stare” has pastel blue, pastel purple, pastel pink, medium pink, medium purple & iridescent glitter.  It is inspired by The Care Bears!  So adorable!  I can’t get enough of these pastel glitters!  This is one dabbed coat over Zoya “Marley.”

“Just Keep Swimming” has sparkly ocean blue microglitter, small and medium yellow and blue hexes, and white squares in a slightly tinted blue jelly base. It is inspired by Dory from Finding Nemo!  It is my absolute favorite!  You could not capture the essence of Dory more perfectly!  And it’s beautiful to boot!  This is 2 coats over Deborah Lippmann “On The Beach.”

“Murky Dismal” has black and white squares in a blue-toned minty base and is inspired by “Rainbow Brite!  This looks so retro!  I’m diggin’ it!  2 coats over Essie “Mint Candy Apple.”

“Purple Nurples” has large holographic silver circles, aqua, blue and purple hexes, medium magenta circles and aqua squares in a red-toned purple jelly base.  This one is inspired by Chowder!  It’s so squishy!  The large holo rounds were difficult to get out and I didn’t have much luck getting any on the brush.  Next time I will try leaving it upside down for a bit.  That usually helps!  3 coats by itself here.

“Starlite” has rainbow colored hexes in a white milky base.  It is inspired by Rainbow Brite!  This reminds me of a clown without the scary makeup!  Haha!  It’s so cute!  I love that it has multiple colored glitter but still looks simple.  This is 2 coats over white.

“Yabba Dabba Doo!” has a peachy orange base with white, orange and turquoise glitters as well as black circles.  It is inspired by The Flintstones!  Such a unique color!  It looks like the pinky-orange walls of the houses in Bedrock.  The large round glitter was difficult to get out of this one too.  I didn’t leave it upside down, but that may help with retrieval.  This is 2 coats over Deborah Lippmann “Love Shack.”

“You Meddling Kids!” has a sheer grassy green base with confetti glitters.  It is inspired by Scooby Doo!  This makes me hungry!  It looks like fruity pebbles.  Yum!  This is 2 coats over Zoya “Josie.”

Today I have some new polishes from Serum No. 5!  The first 4 are very innovative.  They look like normal polishes in the sunlight but they glow in the dark!  I love that they are very transitional.  You could wear them for a demure look during the day but it also looks amazing at night!  The last polish is so unique as well!  Have a look for yourself!

“Burning Orchid” is a duochrome topcoat that shifts from purple to maroon.  This one glows in the dark but I could not capture it for the life of me!  This is 1 coat over black.

“Eternal Sunshine” is a sparkly sunshine yellow that has sparks of green.  Would be best over a base since it is sheer but I did 3 coats alone and there is still VNL.  This has a strong green glow!

“Sunset Flare” is a sparkly pink to orange duochrome.  It dries to a satin-y finish.  This is 3 coats, with no topcoat and it has a medium strength yellow glow.

“Twilight Sparks” is an evergreen suede polish.  It dries with a textured finish that feels similar to OPI’s Liquid Sand polishes.  The shimmer shifts from gold to blue.  This one has a medium strength blue glow.  2 coats, no topcoat.

“Lei Down The Law” is my favorite Serum No. 5 polish ever!  It has neon pink, neon blue, neon green, and black microglitter with sheer white hexes. I did 2 coats over white but it could be opaque on it’s own.  UPDATE:  This also glows in the dark!  I had no idea so I didn’t take pictures!  Hopefully, I’ll be able to show you guys soon though!

“As A Matte’A Fact” is a shimmery matte topcoat.  I wouldn’t say that it’s actually matte, but more satin-y.  Definitely not shiny, but not completely matte either.  Regardless, it’s really pretty and I love that it has flakie shimmer in it.   This is 1 coat over black.

Today, I have something that is very special to me.  Now, I don’t normally get all mushy or too personal on the blog because people don’t come to my blog for that.  But in this case, I feel it’s necessary for me to bare my soul.  It’s taken a lot of courage for me to decide to share this, so be gentle with me.  If you don’t want to read a big gooey, gloppy emotional story… just scroll to the bottom of the post for the swatches but I’m hoping this may help some of you, the way it has helped me…

You all know by now that I’m obsessed with polish.  It’s taken my life in a direction I had never expected.  Of course, like many of you, I get all excited for new collections and big reveals and all the pretty, sparkly things that come of it.  When Rescue Beauty Lounge finally revealed the Emoting Me Collection, I was excited as usual.  I meandered over to Ji’s Blog first to get all the details.  When I arrived at the post, I expected to get that little high I get.  That little faux heart palpitation I usually feel in my chest.  But as I started reading, my eyes brimmed with tears.  It took everything in me to not burst out into uncontrollable hysterics but along came that dreaded knot in my throat and I knew I needed an emotional release.  I lost it.  The tears were flowing.  There was no stopping it.  If you haven’t read the post, you are probably wondering, “what the heck it this chick yammering on about???”  But this was no normal description for a collection.  At least to me.  Here is what it said:

” ‘May my goods come out greater than my own, every time I walk towards your path. Please usher my footfalls, guide me to be where to be, what to do, what to say, what to write, and to whom. Let me embrace every moment you’ve given to me with clear vision, strength, peace, love and grace. Let me be with you every moment to moment in your magical kingdom. Let me be at your service, my heart is open to you and use me for something greater than my own. Thank you for your abundance, blessings, and your love. Thank you for this beautiful gift of today.’

This is my daily mantra and how I greet each day. I subconsciously and consciously recite it from that exquisite place sandwiched between my sleepy-dreamy blur and the lustering lights of a brand new morning. It took me many years of seeking, practicing, and learning to reach this point in my life. I feel stripped naked, revealing and sharing my private daily mantra, but this is my story and also the story that is within all of us: we are all emoting.

I’m convinced that if one is ready to truly learn, this generous universe paves the road in front of us. The trick is knowing when to admit the desire to take that first baby step.

Sadly for me, my desire to take this first step came five years ago, when my beloved mother-in-law suddenly left this earth. Our sunny, delightful home came under a dark gray rolling fog that thickened with our gloom. Lingering questions struck me during this time: Can emotional darkness be contagious? Are we enjoying this sorrowful place just a tad too much? It was time for me to open my own eyes and to start my first step toward my own path and to seek my true self. I became an observer of my own life.

I read self-help books and came across many sparklingly wise words and phrases that we’re told should accompany our daily lives. But by painfully peeling the layers off of my own ego, I learned that I’m responsible for my own emotions and the energy I give out.

My everyday practice is simple: I’ve stopped labeling myself. I’m not so evolved that I levitate in the lotus position in the snowy mountains wearing my flowing pair of tai chi pants. I process and feel every emotion, just like everyone on this earth, but I keep my daily ego in check by knowing that I’m responsible for what I give out and what I receive.

No matter what the circumstances, these are the seven words I repeat persistently…” (Verbatim.  SOURCE)

I am not a religious person but I feel this could be perceived in different ways depending on your beliefs.  I had my own interpretation of the post.  These words could not have graced my mind at a more perfect moment in time.  I have been struggling with depression for months (and possibly years) and at risk of sounding clichè, I felt so hopeless.  I had been feeling like my body, my mind, my soul, my heart were in shambles.  All disconnected from one another.  Each part filled with holes that seemed irreparable.  I didn’t know how or if I would be able to dig myself out of this black pit I was in.  In front of almost everyone, I could put on my mask and my shell would parade around as if everything was just fine.  It wasn’t.

While reading these words, something clicked in me and I cried for the first time in who knows how long.  Every emotion and feeling I’d been pushing down for MONTHS came bubbling out all over the place.  I cried for almost 4 days straight.  I don’t know why it was this post that caused my overflow to happen.  My mom had been trying to help me and guide me for so long!   But for whatever reason, it was at that moment that I realized, I can do this.  I don’t want to feel this way anymore and I won’t.  I refuse to continue on like this.  My eyes opened to all the things I felt were wrong in my life and every person or situation I was blaming for them.  What did they all have in common?  Me.

So after my 4 days of crying and rummaging through my emotional landfill, I decided it was time to take control.  Mind you, I knew it was not going to be easy, but as Ji said I knew I had to “admit the desire to take that first baby step.”  And so I did.  By no means am I “healed.”  By no means is this a “miracle.”  It’s hard work and a constant conscious effort for me to change my way of thinking.  I also started taking medication to help with the depression and it’s helped me to take those baby steps toward happiness and contentment.  I already feel better.  I’m feeling closer to myself now.  I no longer feel helpless.  I still have a long way to go but the light is shining brighter day by day.

I had emailed Ji to let her know how much her post and collection meant to me.  That these colors were no longer just beautiful bottles of paint, they were my reawakening.  And I wanted to say it here too.  And again, thank you Ji.

I’m going to include her descriptions of each color as well, as they hit me equally as hard as the initial part of the post did.  So, finally, here they are…

“Become One” is a smooth grass green crème.  It’s a dream to apply!  So perfect.  2 coats!

“I imagine that one brilliantly sunny day in April when I looked up to see the sun flickering through a cascade of innocent leaves. This opaque green takes me to those young; verdant leaves in the spring and reminds me that nature is our best teacher of life cycles.”

“Be Humble” is a taupe shade with purple undertones and of course RBL’s signature hidden microshimmer in blue and purple.  It really leaned on the purple side against my skin tone!  3 coats.

“I know that I can’t be too self-congratulatory or judge others. I always remind myself to stay modest. I try to grey out my ego with this taupe lightness and allow hope to float in pink, blue, and lavender shimmers.”

“Forgiveness” is muted purple crème.  Amazing formula, just like you’d expect from a Rescue Beauty Lounge polish.  Effortless and perfect in 2 coats.

“To forgive and to ask for forgiveness is the ultimate emotional cleanser, but why is it so difficult for me to open my heart and admit that I’m wrong? Guilt and regret are useless emotions. When I forgive someone, or even when I forgive myself, I step into the serene opaqueness of this dove-lavender color and then I am able to let go and move on.” (This one resonated with me profusely.)

“Pause” is a semi-metallic purple with slight reddish shimmer that isn’t in-your-face but isn’t hidden either.  AMAZING.  One of my fave polishes is Butter London “HRH” and this really reminds me of it but with a major twist!  The shimmer really sets it apart.  2 coats.

“Violet is the color of the chakra that marks the union of the soul with the body, mind, and divine consciousness. With this come bliss, satisfaction, and rest. Being in the present moment is probably the hardest challenge I have. When I stare at the depth of this multi-faceted mid-violet silky shimmer and be at one with this color and nothing else, then I know I am in my present moment.”

“Smile” is muted red crème with that hidden golden shimmer.  It looks red in the bottle but on me it has coral undertones.  The happiest red I have ever seen!  2 coats.

“First, I always smile at the sky at least once a day. It is a privilege to be in this universe. When I lift my face to the sun and bask in its gloriousness, I blink my eyes and see this dazzling red light, a neutral red, and full of sunny, shimmery goodness. Like a smile, this color is contagious.”

“Thank You” has a nude/off-white base with glowing opalescent microshimmer.  3 coats… 4 coats may be necessary or  use lighter strokes.  And if you have ridges like me, use a good ridge-filling base coat!

“Because I’m my own worst critic, I first thank myself, then I thank others, and lastly, I thank the universe. I know that I am loved and, even in negative circumstances, in order to grow, lessons must be learned. It may be tough in the beginning, but when I close my eyes in gratitude and start with a bare, neutral nude, a cast of beatific opalescent pink shimmers radiates with thankfulness.”

“Turn It Around” is an olive green with VIVID pink and copper shimmer.  This is like Halcyon’s darker, flashier sister!  Seriously incredible!  If you only get one from the collection (which would be ill-advised) get this baby!  3 coats.

“Once I understood the universe’s law of polarity, everything made perfect sense. Negatives can’t exist without positives. If I never allow pain to wash over me, then joy becomes meaningless. From this color’s dark mossy green pond, a vivid, glittering cast of copper shimmer welcomes me back to joy.”

Hello friends!  Are you ready for part 2 of CrowToes’ Spring Collection!?  Let’s get right into it!

“Season Of The Witch” has green to purple flakie shimmer in a black jelly base.  The color shift on this is glorious.  Of course my lightbox/camera hates me though so I couldn’t get the full effect.  The base almost looked a bit brown to me so I decided to try it over a dark chocolatey base!  2 coats over Sparitual “Howl.”

“Shoot The Butterfly” has holo and metallic orange hexes, white glitter, and sparse holo glitter bits, in a black jelly base.  I thought this might look Halloween-like with there being black and orange together but it truly looked as beautiful as a Monarch’s wings!  I actually didn’t even think about Halloween once I put it on.  The orange glitter in here is to die for!  One coat over black.

“Tequila Sunrise” has a bright pink semi-sheer base with an abundance of obvious golden shimmer.  I bow down to this beautiful shade!  I’m thinking this will be perfect for my next pedi!  2 coats of Butter London “Cake Hole.”

“Toxic Buttercup” has pink and blue shimmer in a semi-sheer pale yellow base.  You wanna talk about impossible to capture?  This would be the king of impossible to capture for my stinkin’ camera!  Please understand that the shimmer is freakin’ amazing in person.  I have a profound love for yellow polishes and this is right up there with the best of them.  2 coats over Zoya “Pippa.”

Once again, these could all get to opacity on their own but I wanted to try them over base colors.  What I really love about CrowsToes is that they can do shimmers, duochromes, multichromes, glitters, etc. and they are always flawless!  I don’t feel that every brand has that ability and admire CrowsToes for it!

Hi guys!  Today I have the CrowsToes Spring 2013 Collection for you!  There will be 2 parts to this collection, so check back tomorrow for the second half.  On to the swatches!

“Birthday Suit” has a strong pink to gold duochrome flakie shimmer in a semi-sheer nude base.  I keep surprising myself with how much I love nude based polishes lately.  This is terrific!   2 coats over Essie “Topless & Barefoot.”

“Green Thumb of Doom” has green and gold duochrome flakie microglitter in a semi-sheer sheer muted grass green base.  This is a green I can see myself wearing often!  So stunning!  This is 2 coats over RBL “Become One.”

“L’il Miss Cyanide” has shimmer that shifts between blue, green and purple.  It has a semi-sheer medium purple base.  Soooo pretty and iridescent looking!  The shimmer is amazingly eye-catching!  2 coats over Zoya “Mira.” (When layered, this looks like it might be a close match to Rescue Beauty Lounge “Scrangie”  but I have not compared side by side.  Hopefully I’ll be able to do a mass comparison post for you guys soon.  Even if they aren’t dead-on dupes, this might squelch that lemming!)

“L’il Miss Sunshine” has gold to bluish green flakie microglitter in a semi-sheer medium purple base.  The L’il Misses are like the ying and yang of sisters… similar but they both pack a different kind of punch.  The flakie microglitter in this is so apparent!  It almost looks foily!  2 coats over OPI “Funky Dunkey.”

“Milquetoast” has a white jelly base with tan/copper hexes and glitter and holo shimmer.  The name makes me laugh!  My parents live in Hawaii and my stepdad always tells me and my siblings how “Milquetoast” we look while visiting since we are from the Northwest!  I always understood what he meant… that we were pale and ghostly looking but I just looked up the definition and he is definitely not using it the right way!  LOL!  Oh well!  :P  It’s amazing the phrases you grow up hearing and think are just normal sayings that everyone knows but then when you’re older, you realize that it was your family’s own little language.  Haha!  Anyway, back to the polish.  I’m OBSESSED!  An interesting color combination that I would never think of myself  and it just works so well!  I did 3 coats over white but 2 coats would suffice.  I was just loving the glitter so much, I wanted all da glittah!

Wonderful formula on all of these!  They required no effort whatsoever.  They practically applied themselves!  All of these can be worn without undies!  I just wanted to try my hand at layering these pretty babies!  On the first 4, I wasn’t able to capture the color shift of the flakie shimmer very well but it was very apparent in person!

“Springing Seahorse” has purple, lilac, and lavender glitter, with gorgeous red shimmer in a clear base.  The shimmer in this is just beuatiful.  This is 2 coats over RBL “Pause.”

“Popping Parrotfish” is a muted mint green crème with rainbow colored glitter.  The base color is awesome!  I love that it’s a different take on the typical white based polishes!  2 coats over Zoya “Neely.”

“Leaping Lyretail” has magenta, gold, red, and white glitter, as well as gold and red shimmer in a pink jelly base.  This has circular glitter!  LOVE!  I have to say it’s my favorite!  This is 2 coats over RBL “Smile.”

“Jumping Jellyfish” has light blue and cyan glitter in a blue shimmered cerulean jelly base.  Sooooo pretty!  And more circular glitter!  Eek!  2 coats over OPI “Swimsuit… Nailed It!”

“Dancing Discus” has iridescent blue shimmer in a semi-frosted base with bluish squares and golden glitter bits.  The blue glow is very pretty but the somewhat frosted base is not my style.  This is 1 coat over Zoya “Jacqueline.”

Hi guys and gals!  Today I have GlitterDaze’s final Spring 2013 installment for you!  This collection consists of 6 polishes packed with pearly glitter!  The formula on all of these was the same.  Super easy to work with and very dense with glitter without being goopy.  In my opinion these looked best over a polish color that was similar to the color of the glitter.  I swatched “Fluffy Clouds” and “Warm Sunshine” differently than the rest so you could see how it would look different.  I think they are great either way, it was just my personal preference. :)

“A Peace Of Heaven” has pearly light blue glitter in a clear base.  1 coat over Zoya “Blu.”

“Calming Waterfalls” has pearly pale aqua glitter in a clear base.  1 coat over Essie “Mint Candy Apple.”

“Dewy Meadows” has pearly pale lime green glitter in a clear base.  1 coat over Zoya “Josie”

“Fluffy Clouds” has pearly white glitter in a clear base.  1 coat over Zoya “Darcy.”

“Soft Petals” has pearly soft pink glitter in a clear base.  1 coat over Zoya “Yana.”

“Warm Sunshine” has pearly egg yolk yellow glitter in a clear base.  1 coat over Zoya “Micky.”

Today I have the first half of Zoya’s summer polishes!  This half of the collection is called Stunning and consists of 6 creme polishes (some which have hidden shimmer!)

“Darcy” is bright golden yellow creme.  Great formula for a yellow!  Not streaky at all and levels out really nicely.  I do recommend using a light hand when applying it though.  I could have gotten away with 2 coats had I worn a ridge filling basecoat but I did 3 coats for these photos.

“Josie” is a muted grass green creme.  This color reminds me of argyle socks or something.  It has a preppy feeling to it!  It looks like it could be a dupe for Essie “Mojito Madness.”  2 coats on this one.

“Micky” is a candy pink creme with a hidden golden shimmer.  Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous.  No matter how many pink polishes I own, I always love new ones!  2 coats.

“Rocky” is a perfect sky blue creme.  Not extremely unique but pretty and an essential shade to any stash.  If you don’t own anything like this, it would be a great one to pick up.  This is  2 coats.

“Thandie” is a muted orange with a slight golden shimmer.  It photographed a little brighter than it is in real life.  I’m completely smitten with this shade.  It’s an orange polish lovers dream!  This is 2 coats.

“Yana”  is a bright pink creme with hidden silver shimmer.  OMG!  This one is so pretty!  It’s almost a hot pink without being neon.  I have this on my nails right now!  2 easy coats.

Hola mi amigos!  Today I have Lynnderella’s new collection for Spring to show you!  I have had these for what seems like forever but just got around to swatching these pretties!  I love that neon glitter is a big trend this year.  I’m a sucker for anything neon and I love the way Lynnderella incorporated the neon glitter in these polishes!

“Bird Brain Blue” has neon pink, neon green and neon purple glitter, with turquoise glitter and vibrant blue shimmer in a baby blue base.  I didn’t expect to like this one as much as I do!  So gorgeous!  I used 1 coat over Sally Hansen “Breezy Blue” which is the perfect base.

“Beleaf Is Magic” has neon lime, pastel green, pastel pink, and red glitter with green microglitter in a clear base.  I don’t think I picked the right undies for this one.  I wasn’t digging it, but the polishes separately are really nice!  One coat over OPI “the It Color.”

“Candy Blossom” has neon pink, neon green, yellow, white, and light pink glitter in a hot pink shimmered base.  The hot pink shimmer… oooooh lawd!  Gets me every time!  One coat over Nfu Oh! “JS16.”

“Crocus Pocus” has neon purple, periwinkle, pale blue, pale purple and gray glitter with blue and purple shimmer in a clear base.  The medium sized hexes have slight curling but not enough that it would deter me from wearing it.  With a couple of coats of topcoat, it evens it all out.  This is one coat over Zoya “Rocky.”

“Eggstra Pretty!” has pastel, neon and bold glitters in lots of shapes, sizes and colors in a milky base.  So many pretty glitters in this!  This is 2 coats over Zoya “Jacqueline.”

“”Her Name Is Petal” is an explosion of glitter in various shapes, sizes and colors including neons, pastels and bold shades.  It also has blue and purple shimmer!  This one is so versatile.  You could wear it over basically any color.  I did one coat over Dior “Rosy Bow.”

“Sugar Bunny” has white and various shades of neon glitter with amazing rainbow shimmer.  The rainbow shimmer in this had me completely sold the minute I put it on.  I’m in love!  The neon glitter isn’t the easiest to get out but it’s not impossible.  It may just require a couple of extra brush dips to get the amount of neon glitter you want.  This is 2 dabbed coats over Illamasqua “Rare.”

“Tres Chic Duckie Dear” has mostly sunshine yellow glitter with a light mixture of pastel yellow, red and pink glitter.  This also has the gorgeous hot pink shimmer that I’m in love with!  I thought this one would be my least favorite of the collection but it turned out to be my absolute favorite!  I need more yellow glitter topcoats in my life!  This is 1 coat over Zoya “Thandie.”

Hi everyone!  Today I have my picks from the Avant Garden Collection by China Glaze.  For once, I didn’t buy the whole colletion!  :P  I’ve been using these as undies for glitter polishes for the past month or so, which is why my nails are all different lengths in these pictures.  I’m horrible about keeping my nails at a certain, consistent length.  I always try to grow them longer but they always break.  You’d think I’d have learned my lesson by now. :) 

First up is “Tart-y For The Party”, a pastel blue-toned purple creme.  You can’t go wrong with a color like this!  2 coats.

“Mimosa’s Before Mani’s” [sic] is a bright orange-toned coral with golden shimmer.  The color is beautiful, but the spelling error really irks me!  *cringeeeee*  I couldn’t get it to photograph accurately.  It kept turning out too pink so I just used a little photoshop magic on these 2 photos to get the color to show what it looked like in person. This is 2 coats.

“Keep Calm, Paint On” is a pale mint with a strong silver microshimmer that gives the base an almost pearly look without looking dated.  I really loved it and the formula was fantastical.  This is 3 coats.

“Fancy Pants” is one I’ve just felt the need to use time and again ever since I got it.  It’s has a pretty blurple base with a pink/red shimmer.  It’s really gorgeous!  I never tire of colors like this.  2 easy coats.

“Dandy Lyin’ Around” is white shimmered polish that has the same finish as “Keep Calm, Paint On”… almost pearly looking.  I love this!  A new favorite white for me!  This is really wearable too!  White without looking too stark.  I used 2 coats but 3 would probably be better.

“Budding Romance” is a mossy pea green jelly.  As you know, I love pretty-ugly colors and this fits into that category. ♥  Let me apologize for these photos ahead of time… I took a bunch and they all turned out unfocused for some reason!  I was too lazy to reswatch. :P  You get the idea though.  It looked opaque in person with 2 coats but these photos make it look a bit patchy.
