Guest Post: Love Varnish – Splash florals
Hi loves! My name is Deborah, I’m the blogger behind Love Varnish. When Valesha asked me to do a guestpost, I obviously jumped at the chance! She is one of my favorite bloggers, I absolutely ADORE her nails and photography style, and she’s really sweet and kind too.
Because I’ve been taking a break from my own blog and the weather has been better the last week, I was actually rocking nakies for almost 2 weeks. So when I sat down to do my look for this post, I reeeally had to dig for some inspiration! Luckily, our mutual friend Emily from Casual Contrast has a great nail art book and there’s this one particular style that’s so easy yet very effective: splash florals. With the book by my side and my tools and colors picked out, I went to town.
For the base I used Cirque Colors Miami-Dade, a happy turquoise shade. I used Dance Legend Polina on my ringfinger because I wanted to do an accent by switching around the shades. For the next step I randomly added some color to roughly mimic a floral pattern – the more imperfect the better, that’s what I love most about this design! Using a black striper I added the outlines and some dots both in the center of the flowers as well to fill up some of the blank space on my tips. Because the black center dots didn’t stand out too much, I added some golden glitter as well. Finally I finished with a matte top coat to emphasize the design.
I’m really happy how these turned out, though in the end I think I rather had used a white base for most of my nails instead of using it as an accent. What do you think of this look? I’d love to hear!
