All About Nail Polish Tag!

Posted on Feb 7, 2016

Hi guys!  I never really do tag posts or anything fun like that so when I was tagged by Paola at Nail Polish Pursuit to do the All About Nail Polish tag, I knew I needed do it!  I hope you enjoy it. :)

1. What is you favorite nail polish finish (eg. creme, crelly, glitter, etc)?

This is seriously impossible to answer.  The only finish I don’t like is frost.  If I went with my gut instinct, I’d say cremes because they are my first true love and to this day, I good creme always makes my heart skip a beat.  Lately, I’m obsessed with holographic microglitter polishes. The other day I swatched Lynnderella “Do You Paraiba?” and I couldn’t take my eyes off of it.  That’s the effect that holographic microglitters always have on me.  The finish that got me obsessed with nail polish is glitter, so glitter polishes still hold such a special place in my heart and I have a ton of them.  So yeah, this question is impossible to answer. :)

2. What is your favorite “pretty ugly” shade?

Hands down, Rescue Beauty Lounge “No More War”.  It had been on my wishlist for years until I was finally able to track it down!  I’m so glad I did since RBL is now out of business. :(  It’s the perfect “baby poop green” shade which seems disgusting but I absolutely love it on the nail.  I’m a big advocate for pretty-ugly/ugly-pretty shades and “No More War” is just the top of the top.

3. Which polish in your collection is the most sentimental to you?

This is a hard question.  I have a few that are sentimental to me but not really in like a sweet way per se but because I have vivid memories of the polishes.

The first is Deborah Lippmann “Across The Universe”.  If it weren’t for that polish, I would have never gotten into polish in the first place.  It opened a window to world I never knew existed.  Little did I know, there were a ton of polishes that were just as amazing.

Another one that is sentimental to me is OPI “Got The Blues For Red”.  There was a time in my life where I only owned red polish.  I thought all other polish colors were weird or tacky (oh young me, you are so silly!)  In my eyes, red polish was the only color that was fashionable and wearable.  All other colors were for little kids!  :P  I think that’s why, to this day, I love red polishes, they are always fashionable and wearable and classy.  “Got The Blues For Red” was one of my most loved reds.  I loved and wore the hell out of that polish!  I still have my original bottle and it’s almost gone but I just can’t seem to part with it.

OPI “Funky Dunkey” is another sentimental polish.  That was the first polish that helped me burst out of my red-only bubble.  It’s another polish I’ve worn the hell out of and continue to do so.  I have a backup of it and when the day comes when they are both gone, I will be one sad panda!  It’s just the perfect purple!

4. If you could go back in time and but any collection, what would it be?

Right now, there isn’t one that comes to mind.  Back when I didn’t have it, I really wanted the entire OPI Shrek Collection or China Glaze’s OMG Collection.  But since then, I’ve acquired both.  I love and cherish the Shrek Collection but I’ve sold off most of the OMG Collection now because with all the amazing holos out there these days, the OMG Collection just doesn’t compare.  Other than that, I can’t think of anything!

5. What is your go-to “all occasion” polish?

Pretty much any red polish.  When I don’t know what to wear, I always reach for a good red.  OPI “Coca-Cola Red” is my most recent favorite.  It’s just the most creamy, perfect red ever and I love the way it looks on my skintone.

6. What items are essential to your nail care routine?

I alternate between Blue Cross and Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle remover and use them at least a couple times a week so those are must haves.  Nail Butter, without a doubt is my holy grail cuticle moisturizer.  Nothing makes my cuticles as flawless but Bliss Kiss’s cuticle oil is a close second.  I’ve been meaning to do a nail care video for ages.  Like seriously, since I started my blog, but my goal is to have it up by the end of February so stay tuned.

7. What is your favorite “newly discovered” brand (indie or mainstream)?

No-brainer here.  Nine Zero Lacquer.  There isn’t many times that I swatch a new brand and fall in love so quickly but seriously from the first minute, I was obsessed with their colors.  Every. Single. One.  I’ve said it before but I see big things happening for them this year!

8. What is your go-to “bad ass” colour (the colour that makes you feel sexiest or most bad ass)?

Probably a black creme or a silver foil.  I can’t think of one that comes to mind but if I wanted to pretend to be a bad ass rocker chick, I’d definitely choose one of those 2.

9. Indie or Mainstream?

Again, impossible to say!  I love them both in their own ways.  I do love that when you are buying indies, you are supporting a small business but there is a reason brands like OPI have been around for years!

10. Which brand’s collections do you most look forward to?

It’s forever changing but lately it’s been OPI, Pahlish, KBShimmer, Nine Zero Lacquer, China Glaze and Cupcake Polish just to name a few.  I really do get excited about most new collections though!  It’s always so fun to see what the creators come up with. :)

Anyone who would like to, feel free to join in the tag!  It was so fun to answer these questions!
