OPI: Brazil Collection Comparisons

Posted on Feb 24, 2014

Hi all!  Today I have my first ever comparison post for you!  I’ve always wanted to do comparison posts so I’m happy I finally have the chance to do it!  You can see my original swatches of this collection HERE.  Let’s get right to the comparisons!

Pointer to pinkie; 3 coats of each: NCLA “Tennis Anyone?”, OPI “I Just Can’t Cope-acabana”, Orly “Lemonade” & Butter London “Cheeky Chops”.  “I Just Can’t Cope-acabana” and “Cheeky Chops” are the closest here but not quite dupes.  “Cheeky Chops” is just a shade lighter.  “Tennis Anyone?” and “Lemonade” are obviously more pale.

Pointer to pinkie; 3 coats of each: Zoya “Sara”, OPI “I Just Can’t Cope-acabana”, Zoya “Pippa” & Butter London “Pimms”.  “Sara” and “I Just Can’t Cope-acabana” are definite dupes, which is pretty lucky for those of you who like “Sara” because that polish isn’t available for purchase (it was part of the Rolando Santana Collection that was not made available to the public.)  “Pippa” is just a touch lighter… I mean, barely but I can’t say they are dupes.  “Pimms” has more orange-y undertones to it.

OPI I Just Can't Cope-acabana Comparison - Peachy Polish

Pointer to pinkie; 3 coats of each: China Glaze “Peachy Keen”, OPI “Where Did Suzi’s Man-go?”, Dior “Mango” & Zoya “Arizona”.  No dupes here.  “Peachy Keen” is lighter, “Mango” is more yellow toned and darker, and “Arizona” is even darker than “Mango”.

Pointer to pinkie; 3 coats of each: Orly “Decades of Dysfunction”, OPI “Don’t Bossa Nova Me Around”, OPI “My Vampire Is Buff” & OPI “My Boyfriend Scales Walls”.  “Decades of Dysfunction” and “Don’t Bossa Nova Me Around” are the closest but no dupes, “Decades of Dysfunction” is a touch lighter and less pink toned.  “My Vampire is Buff” is like the yellow toned version of “Don’t Bossa Nova Me Around”.  ” My Boyfriend Scales Walls” is a much whiter creme with gray undertones.

Pointer to pinkie; 2 coats of each: Deborah Lippmann “Groove Is In The Heart”, OPI “Kiss Me I’m Brazilian”, OPI “If You Moust You Moust”, Nicole by OPI “Tink’s In The Pink”. No dupes here.  “Groove Is In The Heart” is much lighter, “If You Moust You Moust” is darker and more blue toned and “Tink’s In The Pink” is also too dark and more blue toned, really close to “If You Moust You Moust”.

OPI Kiss Me I'm Brazilian Comparison - Peachy Polish

Pointer to pinkie; 2 coats of each: OPI “Suzi’s Hungary Again”, OPI “Live.Love.Carnival.”, Deborah Lippmann “Daytripper” & OPI “Charged Up Cherry”.  I was positive that “Daytripper” and “Live.Love.Carnival” would be dupes but on the nail, “Live.Love.Carnival” dried darker and more orange toned.  “Suzi’s Hungary Again” was much more of a true pink with shimmer, “Charged Up Cherry” was pinker and darker.

OPI Live.Love.Carnival. Comparison - Peachy Polish

Pointer to pinkie; 2 coats of each: Deborah Lippmann “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”, OPI “Toucan Do It If You Try”, China Glaze “Heli-Yum” “High Hopes” (thanks to the ladies who pointed this out!) & Rescue Beauty Lounge “Coral”.  No dupes here, all polishes are too pink.  For the second photo, I ended up throwing OPI “Live.Love. Carnival.” on my thumb (say hello to the most awkward hand pose of all time!  LOL!) to compare and “Live.Love.Carnival” is a dead on dupe for “Heli-Yum” “High Hopes”!  Both have great formulas and the color is beautiful.

Pointer to pinkie; 2 coats of each: Zoya “Kennedy”, OPI “Taupe-less Beach”, Orly “You’re Blushing” & Essie “Chinchilly”.  “Kennedy” is obviously lighter and more warm toned.  “You’re Blushing” is close but a touch lighter and more purple.  “Chinchilly” is close too but still more gray toned.  No dupes!

OPI Taupe-less Beach Comparison - Peachy Polish

Pointer to pinkie; 2 coats of each: Zoya “Normani”, OPI “I Sao Paulo Over There”, China Glaze “Below Deck” & China Glaze “Foie Gras”.  The first thing I thought when I saw “I Sao Paulo Over There” was “Normani”!  And lo and behold, they are almost exact.  Normani is maybe a 1/2 a shade darker.  MAYBE.  No one would be able to tell the difference except for you maybe, if you analyzed it really hard.  Below Deck is really close but it’s more purple toned.  Foie Gras is obviously darker.

OPI I Sao Paulo Over There Comparison - Peachy Polish

Pointer to pinkie; 2 coats of each: OPI “Casino Royale”, OPI “OPI Scores A Goal!”, China Glaze “Purr-fect Plum” & OPI “In The Cable Car-Pool Lane”.  I didn’t have any polish that was even close to “OPI Scores A Goal!”.  These were the closest I could find and they aren’t even the least bit similar.  All are much more red toned.  “OPI Scores A Goal!” is cooler and has more of brown undertone.  (EDIT: As I was writing this post, I thought about Rescue Beauty Lounge “Bruised” which I totally missed while I was swatching the comparisons.  They look like they would be exact dupes from looking at the bottles but I didn’t have time to compare the two on the nail.  You can see a swatch of “Brusied” HERE.  If you missed out on purchasing “Bruised” which is no longer available for purchase, “OPI Scores A Goal!” might be a great alternative for you!)

OPI OPI Scores A Goal! Comparison - Peachy Polish

Pointer to pinkie; 2 coats of each: Rescue Beauty Lounge “Chinoise”, OPI “Red Hot Rio”, OPI “Color So Hot It Berns” & Butter London “Pillar Box Red”.  Although they are super similar and a normal person wouldn’t be able to tell them apart (and it’s kind of hard to tell in the photo too), these aren’t solid dupes.  “Pillar Box Red” is the closest but it’s more opaque and a little more yellow toned.  “Chinoise” and “Color So Hot It Berns” are more yellow toned than both “Red Hot Rio” and “Pillar Box Red”.

OPI Red Hot Rio Comparison - Peachy Polish

Pointer to pinkie; 2 coats of each: OPI “Over & Over A-Gwen”, OPI “Red Hot Rio”, Deborah Lippmann “Stop And Stare” & OPI “Vodka & Caviar”.  “Over & Over A-Gwen” is a smidge more blue toned.  “Stop And Stare” is probably the closest to “Red Hot Rio” as far as formula and color.  Both are jellies but “Stop And Stare” is barely more yellow toned.  “Vodka & Caviar” is more opaque and darker.

OPI Red Hot Rio Comparison - Peachy Polish

Pointer to pinkie; 2 coats of each: OPI “Taylor Blue”, OPI “Amazon… Amazoff”, Orly “Teal Unreal” & China Glaze “Exotic Encounters”.  These are not even close to being dupes.  Even so, these were the closest ones in my stash.  Safe to say, “Amazon… Amazoff” is super unique!

I hope you guys liked this post!  Hopefully I will have time to do more in the future. Have a happy Monday!

can you tell me of the red opi polishes which one this sounds like. I am looking for one that is tomato red. having a big head day is almost the color but not quite the orangey undertone. does that sound like so hot it berns

I am looking for a color to go under jelly’s so I don’t have a VNL. I’m looking for a nude one that kind of blends in to my skin tone, and that I can wear under any color jelly. Do you think this would work, or is it a bad idea and I should just forget it? I am thinking one coat of OPI Don’t Bossa Nova Me Around. I have very fair skin, with pink in it. I don’t tan at all, and don’t have any yellow. I know you can’t really tell because you can’t see my skin, but I’m hoping for a starting point. I don’t want to just start buying all these nude color’s.

  • Kellie

You said that they aren’t dupes but is OPI Amazon…Amazoff close to China Glaze Exotic Encounters? Your pic makes them look identical.

    • They are definitely not dupes and on my monitor and in person, they don’t look alike… similar maybe but not the same.

  • This is such an amazing post and really helpful thanks!

  • Natasha Stuart

I have referred to this post more times than you can imagine! Please do more comparison posts.. SO helpful and your swatches and labelling are GORGEOUS! Love. Beautiful work. :)

  • Gisella

  • Ann Sharp

Thank you so much for these awesome swatches! You saved me so much time looking at these individually.

  • Sharon Parayos Merritt

  • What a great job you did with these comparisons, Thank you so much!

  • Thank you for those lovely and flawless comparisons!
I’m wondering the same as Juliana Fernandes. “Heli-Yum” seems pretty pink and raspberry-like in other swatches I’ve seen whereas “Live.Love.Carnival” seems like a bright coral leaning towards red..

  • Lilith

Thanks for the post! Really helpfull! :)
Will you do one with the China Glaze City Flourish collection? (I didn’t buy any online yet, I’m affraid I’ll end up with dupes ^^)

  • This is a tremendously useful post! And it must have taken a lot of work, so thank you, very much :)

  • wow awesome post. Man that looks like a lot of work! Fab!

  • Juliana Fernandes

thanks a lot for these comparisons! posts like this are really helpful! and i have to say, love your swatches!
hey, i’m wondering if china glaze heli-yum isn’t, in fact, china glaze high hopes. i’m asking that because my heli-yum isn’t coral at all. in fact, it’s that red-pink kind of colour (like OPI dutch tulips, although not dupes, for sure).

  • Traci Hatling

Thank you so much for doing this! Posts like these really save me some $$$!

  • fluffywuffy

Is Amazon Amazoff like a darker (plus shimmer) version of Exotic Encounters?

  • Stacy Plowman-Pennock

Wow! I can only imagine how much work goes into a post like this, THANK YOU for taking the time to do this for us! :)

  • Can I just tell you how much I LOVE comparison posts?! Cuz I do :D This is awesome, thanks for the hard work!

  • Erin Ortiz

This is a really awesome and thorough comparison, thank you!

  • Виктория Артамонова

Thank you very much, that’s a bunch of awesome comparisons!
Among bright yellows (OPI, Zoya, Butter London), which one do you think is the easiest to apply? Or do they all have this tricky texture which is characteristic for yellow cremes?

    • Thanks for reading! They were all pretty similar, I’d say Cope-acabana may have been just a little bit easier than the rest. :)
