OPI: Holiday 2014 Gwen Stefani Collection Swatches & Review
Hi guys! I have another Holiday collection for you today. This time, it’s OPI’s Gwen Stefani collection! There’s lots of pretties here so let’s hop right to it.
“Christmas Gone Plaid” is a gorgeous deep evergreen creme. I love that it’s a dark shade of green without looking black. It is obviously green and so pretty. Perfect in 2 coats.
“Just Be-Claus” is a deep berry creme with strong red undertones. Gorgeous! I don’t think I have a color quite like this. Sometimes it appears to be red, other times a true berry tone. It has a great formula, not too think and not too thick. Beautiful in 2 coats.
“I Carol About You” is a lush shade of blue-toned purple with a subtle pink shimmer. This is amazing. The pink shimmer was a complete surprise. I didn’t realize it was in there until I was applying it. This reminds me a bit of Zoya “Savita” when a top coat is added which is one of my favorite Zoyas! Beautiful. 2 coats but could be a one-coater.
“What’s Your Point-settia?” is a slightly warm toned red creme. Nobody does a red creme quite like OPI and although they put out a lot of them and I have tons in my stash, they never get old for me. When I applied this I ooh’d and aah’d because it’s just so pretty and it applied like a dream. For the color, application and the name (how cute is the name!) this is pretty close to the top of my favorite reds list now! Amazing. 2 coats but it could actually be a one-coater.
“Kiss Me – Or Elf!” is a shimmering dark fuchsia that has a somewhat metallic feel to it with the formula of a creme. Growing up, my family had glass Christmas tree ornaments that were this exact color so this shade is leaving me feeling a bit nostalgic. Amazing formula. 2 coats.
“Love Is Hot And Coal” is a dark muted minky brown with silvery shimmer. Quite a unique shade. I wasn’t sure what to think about it in the bottle but on the nail, it’s so chic. Great formula. 2 coats.
“Sleigh Parking Only” is a truly raisin colored creme. It straight up reminds me of the California Raisins and I love it! A perfect mix of reddened brown and purple. And the formula is so dreamy. 2 coats but could be a one-coater!
“Fashion A Bow” is a bright very warm toned red crelly. This looked even warmer against my skin tone when I applied it than it looked in the bottle. There is just something about this color. It’s so beautiful and bright and not your typical red. I did 2 coats and there is a slight VNL but I liked it that way!
“Snow Globetrotter” has iridescent and white glitter in a clear base. This is super cute. The glitter is sparse but not too hard to pickup. I did notice that some of the larger iridescent hexes were slightly curly so keep that in mind if you decide to pick this one up. I did one coat over “Fashion A Bow”.
“Comet In The Sky” has iridescent and black glitter in a clear base. Exactly like “Snow Globetrotter” but with black glitter instead of white. Another pretty polish! I know a lot of people will love this one. One coat over “Sleigh Parking Only”.
I also wanted to show “Snow Globetrotter” and “Comet In The Sky” over white and black. I thought I would like “Snow Globetrotter” over black but I like it better over white and I’m obsessed with “Comet In The Sky” over white! It is stunning. One coat of each here.
“Cinnamon Sweet” is true red creme, not more cool toned or more warm toned, perfectly in the middle. Beautiful and creamy. 2 coats.
“So Elegant” has gunmetal and black glitter in a clear base. This is very Gwen Stefani-esque. I like it. One coat over “Cinnamon Sweet”.
“First Class Desires” has beautiful gold and green shimmer in a deep blue-toned purple base. The base is a so dark it almost appears to be black but in brighter lights you can see the hints of purple. This is so pretty and has an amazing formula. 2 coats but definitely a one-coater.
“In A Holidaze” is on the opposite red spectrum of “Fashion A Bow”, it’s a very bright blue-toned red jelly. So luscious and squishy and it makes me want a Jolly Rancher. LOL. I did 2 coats and there was still slight VNL, but again, I liked it that way! It looks patchy here, but it wasn’t in real life.
“I’ll Tinsel You In” has black, white and gray glitter in a clear base. I thought that I would not like this but it surprised me. I’m usually on the fence about bar glitter but something about this looks great! Easy breezy formula. I did one coat over “In A Holidaze”.
“Rollin’ In Cashmere” is a shimmery somewhat frosty gold. OPI can give me a million red cremes and silver foils but I’m honestly really sick of these golds OPI has been releasing. I love gold polishes! But the ones they’ve been putting out just look very dated to me and really aren’t my cup of tea. Nice formula though. I did 2 coats.
“Red Fingers & Mistletoes” is a glowing red polish with an overload of gold shimmer. Perfect Christmas polish. The shimmer in here has a bit of a glass fleck feel and is gorgeously reflective. I did 2 coats.
“Unfrost My Heart” is a silver foil. Just like a gum wrapper. Nothing unique but a great one to add to your stash if you don’t have something similar. Great formula. I did 2 coats.
I have been so impressed with OPI’s Collections lately that this has me feeling a little underwhelmed. I do really like almost all of them, but it’s just not as unique as the other collections they’ve released this year. That being said, they are still amazing and really, you can’t beat OPI’s formula. “Christmas Gone Plaid”, “What’s Your Point-settia?” and “I Carol About You” are my favorites.
OPI polishes can be purchased at professional salons including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney Salons, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, Ulta.com and Ulta as well as a lot of other retailers and online.
