Paint All The Nails Presents Gilded

Posted on Oct 27, 2016

Hi guys!  Today I have yet another installment of the Paint All The Nails link-up!  For the month of October, we chose Gilded and for once, I had the perfect idea!  If you are unfamiliar with these monthly link-ups, each month the wonderful ladies in the group I’m apart of called Paint All The Nails, picks a prompt and post out nail art on the same day.  It’s so fun!  If you haven’t seen the previous link-ups I’ve done with this group of talented ladies, you can check them out here and make sure to check out their designs for Gilded at the bottom of this post as well!

My idea for the link-up this month was to try out using Heidi Swapp Minc Reactive Foil on my nails.  I had picked up a roll a couple of months back, thinking I could make it work on my nails.  I never got the chance to try it out so there was no more perfect time!  The technique I used this time was to place thin bits of top coat on top of my design and press the back side of the foil against my nail to transfer it.  It worked exactly how I wanted it to and left bits of distressed looking gold foil bits on the nail.  I still want to try other techniques in the future as well.  Here is what I used to create this design:

  • Base color – Rica Whiteout
  • Stripes – MoYou London Frenchy-09 stamping plate, Rica Blackout and Mundo de Uñas White and Orange
  • Other tools – Heidi Swapp Minc Reactive Foil in Gold, Wet n’ Wild Clear Top Coat, Clear Jelly stamper

This next one, I actually did first but wasn’t thrilled with how messy the texture turned out so I did the one above too.  I figured I’d post this anyway, even though I wasn’t thrilled with it. :)

  • Base color – Rica Whiteout
  • Stripes – MoYou London Frenchy-09 stamping plate, Rica Blackout and Mundo de Uñas White
  • Distress texture – Girly Bits Elephant Shoe, Rica Blackout and Rica Whiteout
  • Other tools – Heidi Swapp Minc Reactive Foil in Gold, Wet n’ Wild Clear Top Coat, Clear Jelly stamper

  • That foil looks really cool!

  • Both of them look really cool! The first one more clean, but I love he grungy feel of the other one! :)

  • That is such a beautiful effect with the foil! I love how you made them Halloweeny too!

  • I love this – both are so holiday appropriate! Gorgeous work :)

  • That’s such a cool effect with the foil, I haven’t seen this one before. I really like the first look, great job aligning it with Halloween :)

  • Love both of these looks Valesha! You totally nailed the foil technique, they turned out perfect! The first one is so great for Halloween!

  • la paillette frondeuse

I prefer the first one with its halloween-y style :D I have never try foil .. each time I think to myself “Whoahhhhhhh” but I’m kind of afraid to use this ^^ I like the distressed effect you create, it’s perfect !

  • Loving both of these, I can never get foil to look so perfectly weathered. The first look is definitely my fav though!

  • Ooh I love the effect both of these turned out having. I really love the rustic gold, it’s so effective. Beautiful Valesha xx
