Pretty & Polished: Holiday 2012 Collection

Posted on Nov 7, 2012

Happy hump day y’all!  Ok, I hate when people say that but I am so glad it’s half way through the week!  Today I’ve got all but one of the polishes from the 2012 Holiday Collection by Pretty & Polished!

“Everybody Loves Penguin” has black and white glitter in a creamy white base.  I love the over-sized black hex glitter in this!  They weren’t the easiest to get out though.  I ended up leaving it upside down for a couple minutes which made it easier.  The base was pretty sheer so I layered 2 coats over Sally Hansen “Ivory Skull”.

This is the first polish that is part of the “Happy Holodays” duo called “Ruby”.  It has a deep ruby base with scattered holographic microglitter.  This is beautiful and very festive.  3 coats.

The second polish in the Happy Holodays duo is a “Glitter Topper” comprised of red holographic and green hex glitter in a clear base.  The red holographic glitter is stunning in this polish and very vivid.  This is 2 coats over “Ruby”.

“Island of Misfit Toys” was the one I was most excited about when I saw bottle shots!  And I love it even more in person!  It looks like a bag full of Santa’s toys!  It’s a plethora of different shapes, sizes and colors of glitter in a clear base.  I’m really disappointed in this swatch only because the polish I used for undies bubbled like crazy, and you can really tell in the macro picture.  It still doesn’t even effect how awesome “Island of Misfit Toys” is though!  My favorite from the collection!  This is 2 coats over Gosh “Bubble Gum”.

“Love Always, Candy Cain” is a red and white glitter in a clear base.  There are over-sized hexes, large hexes, small hexes, hearts and microglitter in the mix here!  Again, loving the giant hexes in here!  This would also be an amazing polish for Valentine’s Day!  This is one and a half coats over Orly “Shine”.  I say 1/2 a coat because I dabbed some of the bigger pieces on here after the first coat.

“S’no Mans Land” has white and iridescent glitter in a silky, shimmery white base.  This was a bit too frosty for my taste.  The base reminds me Deborah Lippmann “Let It Snow!‘  Even though I enjoyed the addition of the glitter in this, I just can’t get over the frostiness.  This is 2 coats over Sally Hansen “Ivory Skull” but it could most likely be opaque on it’s own.

The only one I didn’t pick up is “Xmas Wreath” which is described as a dark green base, packed with green shreds, red hexes, and holo golden glitter.  That one looks pretty too, so it may be one you want to consider adding to your purchase!

These will be available today on the Pretty & Polished Etsy site!  I tried to find a time that they will be opening tomorrow but I wasn’t able to, so just keep your eyes peeled!  I will update this if I find the opening time!  Also, they will be switching their store over within the next couple of weeks to their own website, PrettyNPolish.com. Be sure to follow their Facebook page as well, for updates and more information on their polishes!
