Rescue Beauty Lounge: Anatomy of a #KDrama Collection Swatches & Review
The time has come for another Collection unveiling for Rescue Beauty Lounge! The inspiration for this Collection comes from Ji’s love (obsession, really) of Korean melodramas! Are you guys ready to see this beautiful new Collection?
“Oh Slap! – The quintessential flushed cheeks for your nails, Oh Slap! goes on as a sheer pink in one coat with opaque coverage in two coats. This is THE PERFECT PINK that I’ve worked on forever to create; the formula is flawless and streak-free and is not pastel or white-based. You can practically apply it with your eyes closed. There is plenty of slapping going on with the ladies in melodramas, and now we get to keep that after-slap pink glow without the pain or violence or—Oh, no!— plunging each other into swimming pools fully dressed.” -RBL
“Oh Slap!” is a beautifully blue-toned pink jelly. Think “Fire Queen” but in pink. I love it sooo much! One of my favorites of this collection. 2 coats.
“Will They Or Won’t They – A gentle cascade of the tiniest silvery blue/green-micro glitter that softly flows on a pool of doleful lavender. Will They Or Won’t They catches the sun’s rays as it glides on your nails. Sheer coverage in one coat, opaque in two, this is lighter and flirtier than our beloved Insouciant. After all, the protagonist and her love interest almost always start out with some hostility, that is, before that moment of sweet discovery. Not a fan of micro glitter? This might be your rabbit hole. Get on it…” -RBL
“Will They Or Won’t They” is a muted medium purple with green and blue micro shimmer and flecks. Pretty and delicate. It has a very squishy finish. I should have taken a close up of this one but I didn’t even realize this had little flecks in it until I was watermarking my photos. A nice little surprise. Sheer on the first coats but builds up nicely in 2 coats.
“A lofty palate cleanser with a tinge of attitude, think of this color as grunge’s lighter, shimmery sister, or perhaps Ani’s less golden, darker and moodier cousin. This is the perfectly neutral balance between fawn and taupe; its flawless beauty is infused with flutters of silver, green, and pink shimmer. Once you wear it, Instant Amnesia will erase your memory of all the bad nail polish colors from your past.” -RBL
“Instant Amnesia” is a taupe-y almost mud puddle brown creme with faint silver, blue and pink microshimmer. This shade kind of takes on a green undertone against my skin. Another polish that is lovely and somehow delicate looking. 2 coats.
“Cue The Montage – Yellow chartreuse is the most difficult color to wear; it was a daring task to try to create one that would be suitable for all skin tones. I’ve solved this problem by adding a silver under-glitter to give depth. Cue the Montage has a different texture than any other RBL nail polish because opaque lacquer and glitter are not usually friends. It dries matte and textured, so you must apply a basecoat and topcoat for the full effect. This color has a glittery silver that peaks through in glorified harmony which could represent the past, the present, and in between. Warning: The glitter in this bottle does not appear the same when applied to nails; it has a sandwiched effect.” -RBL
“Cue The Montage” is a chartreuse-leaning-yellow creme with silver glitter bits. I love the color of this. I adore chartreuse colored polishes! Great formula. No streakiness at all. Almost a one-coater but I did 2 coats.
“Not Your Baby – A deceitfully mysterious brown-bronzy-sage-green duo chrome, Not Your Baby is a classic RBL chameleon nail polish—its identity changes depending on the light. Trickery plays. This color may appear to be browner than bronze with a cast of sage-green shimmer in a certain light, and yet more bronze in the next
moment. But wait—is that pink and blue shimmer you see in the sun? The truth lies in the eye of beholder because this color will double-cross you every time.” -RBL
“Not Your Baby” is a metallic, slightly pewter brown with a cast of green with pink and blue microshimmer. Interesting polish! Definitely a chameleon as RBL explains it! 2 coats.
“Burn The Evidence – You know that scene, when the main character tosses a letter or an envelope full of incriminating documents into the roaring fireplace (even during the summer)? Burn The Evidence has a finely milled panache glitter that is not only jammed-packed with a mélange of red, gold, orange and copper glitters, but it also provides that dash of ash-black brilliance. This color fully covers in two full coats and has a flaming three-dimensional depth: Your hot nails will look like they’re on fire.” -RBL
“Burn The Evidence” has burnt orange, red, copper and gold microglitter in a clear base. This has the perfect amount of glitter that makes it versatile enough to wear over a base color or alone. Fiyah! I did 3 coats.
“Monologue – Virtuously inky, Monologue’s navy blue base is embedded with a soliloquy of elegant light-blue shimmer. Even in low light, this solitary dark blue retains its color and does not appear to be black. Monologue has a smooth, undemanding application; this color is darkly pigmented yet calmingly engaging. Yes, demurely sexy, like the actor’s silky baritone voice when he recites those honeylaced words. Are you a die-hard opaque devotee, but ready for something new? Repeat after me—Monologue.” -RBL
“Monologue” is a gorgeous deep blue with blue/green microshimmer. This is breathtaking! The depth of it makes it look like the deep deep shimmery ocean. My absolute favorite! 2 perfect coats.
