Serum No. 5: Fall 2014 Collection Swatches & Review
Hello again! Happiest Friday to you all! Today I have the newest collection from Serum No. 5! There are lots of polishes in this post so let’s get down to brass tacks.
“Leaves You Breathless” has gold, copper, brown, red, orange, green and purple glitter in a clear base. This is so beautiful! A perfect Fall glitter topper. Awesome glitter pickup. One coat over Zoya “Claire”.
“First Colors” has red, blue and yellow glitter in a white base. A perfect back to school polish! Super cute and a great formula here as well. 2 coats.
“Fractured Rainbows” has an icy sheer base with pastel iridescent shimmer and glitter. It also glows in the dark. I’m not a huge fan of this. I kind of don’t know what to wear it over and as you can see in the third photo, the glow effect is very minimal on the nail. Nice formula though. One coat over Deborah Lippmann “I Knew You Were Trouble”.
“Pink Lantern” is a re-release from last year’s Fall Collection. It was made for Breast Cancer Awareness Month! It’s a light bubblegum pink with a strong orange glow in the dark effect. Lovely color but not the greatest formula ever. I did 3 coats over a ridgefilling base coat and it was still a touch streaky.
“A Class Act” is a rosy medium-toned pink holo. This one is really cute and girly. Nice shade of pink, great formula. 2 coats.
“Galactic Rainbow” has a reddish brown base with green/blue/gold duochrome shimmer that glows a subtle purple in the dark. I really don’t like this one. It’s terrible against my skin tone and gives me mad lobster hands. It actually looks much better in the photo below than it did in real life. It’s also grainy but it did spread on the nail nicely and the finish looked nice after 2 coats and a layer of top coat.
“Light Speed” has a gray jelly base with purple/blue/green duochrome shimmer that glows a bright aqua blue in the dark. Nice formula and the glow effect is amazing. 3 coats.
“Beam Me Up” is a golden polish with green/copper duochrome shimmer that glows bright green in the dark. Nice formula here as well but not my most favorite color. 3 coats.
“Dark Matter” has a brownish-army green base with pink/gold duochrome shimmer and it glows a bright green. Good formula here, once again. I can’t really decide whether I like this or not. I feel like my skin-tone might be fighting against all that’s going on here, although it does look better in photos than it did in real life. 3 coats.
“Tassel’s Worth The Hassle” is a dark granite jelly with gold and silver glitter and shimmer that glows a bright green in the dark. This one is nice. I like the glitter combo. Nice formula too. 2 coats.
“Work Hard Play Hard” has aqua, turquoise, gold, magenta and royal blue glitter and shimmer in a chocolate brown jelly base. This is a nice mix of colors. I’ve always loved turquoise and brown together! Nice formula. 3 coats.
“Sleepy Holo” is a dark stormy gray linear holo. Nice holo effect and formula. I did 2 coats.
“Beam Me Up”, “Galactic Rainbow”, “Dark Matter”, “Light Speed” and “Pink Lantern” will be available on October 1st. The rest of the polishes in this post are available now on Serum No. 5’s website.
