Valentine’s Day Nail Art!

Posted on Feb 12, 2015

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching… I can’t believe it’s only a couple days away!  It’s one of my favorite holidays and I’ve actually only done ONE Valentine’s nail art post on my blog in the 2 1/2 years since I started it!  That is just insane.  I was not about to let another year pass me by without doing a little nail art post full of Valentine’s goodness!  Enjoy!

First up is a black and white watermarble topped with a sparkly red heart!  For this look, I used Essie “Licorice” and “Blanc” for the watermarble and created the heart by using red acrylic paint and dabbing Lynnderella “Rad Red Party Dress” on top of that.  LOVE how this turned out!  If you are feeling a little anti-Valentine’s Day, you could do a broken heart on top instead which would also be cool!  Maybe even black broken hearts.  :)

Here it is with out the hearts so you can see the black and white watermarble in all its glory. :)

I did this next nail art look way back in the beginning of my polish days.  I loved it at the time but looking back, it was not very cute or clean.  I decided I need to redo it and show you guys what a little practice and persistence can do.  To create these Valentine Mermaid Scales, I used a white base and with a dotting tool, overlapped polka dots starting at the tip of my nail and going to the base.  I used Zoya “Shelby”, “Livingston”, “Perrie”, “Mira” and “Rory” and in a few sporadic spots, I dabbed on some matching craft glitter.

Are you ready for this Throwback Thursday pic?  Prepare yourselves people, for some truly awful cuticles and cleanup…

And that pose too!  Ain’t nobody looks good with a claw hand!  Live and learn… amirite?

For this next look I did a “funky french” using Deborah from Love Varnish as inspiration.  She did the most fabulous mani a while back and I knew I’d just have to recreate it in some capacity.  No better time than Vday!  I used OPI “Girls Love Ponies” as the base and KBShimmer “Eclipse” for the “french tip”.  I then topped it with a matte topcoat.  Not as cute as Deborah’s but hey… maybe I’ll get on her level one day. :)

Next, a fairly simple pink Valentine watermarble that ended up reminding me of a Strawberry milkshake and had me feeling like I needed to run out and get one immediately… even if it was midnight.  Haha!  I used Pipe Dream Polish “On The List”, OPI “Mod About You” and Essie “Boom Boom Room”.

Last but not least, I had to create a Valentine’s themed gradient polka dot mani like I did for the Holidays since I loved them so much and it seems others did too!  Such a simple look to create but it always turns out so freaking adorable.  I used OPI “I Love Applause” as the base and Deborah Lippmann “Autumn In New York”, OPI “Kiss Me I’m Brazilian”, Zoya “Livingston” and China Glaze “Giver’s Theme” for the dots in a cascading fashion.

I hope you may have gotten some Valentine’s Day nail inspiration if you weren’t sure what you wanted to do.  I also hope that your Valentine’s or Galentine’s Day is wonderful.  And if you hate Valentine’s Day, I still hope you have a good day too. :)
