China Glaze: The Giver Collection Swatches & Review
Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all have some fun plans for the weekend! I’ll be getting together with some friends and going to a pumpkin patch! After we pick out our pumpkins, we are going to have a pumpkin carving party and game night! I can’t wait, it’s going to be a blast!
Today, I have China Glaze’s The Giver Collection for you. This collection consists mostly of cremes with a couple glitters mixed in and was inspired by the movie The Giver (which was based on the book by the same name) which is in theatres now!
“Community” is a somewhat muted chocolate creme. I’m loving all of these Fall browns and this is a great one. Perfect and beautiful in 2 coats.
“Five Rules” is a pale putty colored creme. Pretty good formula here considering how light the shade is and the fact that in the past, China Glaze has been questionable on formula. You could definitely get away with 2 coats but I did 3.
“Friends Forever, Right?” is a crelly that’s the palest of pale pink. It’s so pale, you might think it’s white at first but once you compare it to a pure white, you can see the pinky tones. This is gorgeous and delicate and it actually has a great formula! I used a light hand when applying and got away with just 2 coats!
“New Birth” is similar to “Friends Forever, Right?” but is the palest of pale blues. Again, almost looks white but has blue tones for sure compared to a stark white polish! Another awesome formula. Using a light hand, 2 coats was great.
“Release” is an extremely muted pale lavender creme. This is stunning. I really love the way muted shades look against my skin-tone. This one made me ooh and aah. Amazing formula. 2 perfect coats.
“Intelligence, Integrity & Courage” is either a medium gray creme with strong bluish undertones or a medium blue with strong gray undertones. It dries a little darker than it appears in the bottle and has the tendency to look quite blue in certain lights and more gray in others. Great formula here, once again. 2 coats.
“Capacity To See Beyond” is a perfect sky blue creme. They are hitting it out of the park with formulas in this collection. 2 breezy coats!
“Giver’s Theme” is a creamy red-toned medium purple. Simply gorgeous and such a perfect formula. It photographed as if I had some bald spots but there were none in person. I’m not sure why it photographed that way! 2 coats.
“History Of The World” is a creme that looks like a dusted navy in the bottle but on the nail took on a slightly blurple look, though it still leans mostly blue. Another dusty confection that I just love. 2 coats.
“Boundary Of Memory” has graphite, silver and gold microglitter in a clear base. This is awesome. It’s so opaque! I could have almost gotten away with one coat! And the formula is good too… not chunky, just a little thick because of all the glitter bits but still easy to manage. I did 2 coats here.
“Seeing Red” is a red creme that borders on being a bright brick red but it’s a little too bright to be a typical brick red. This is quite unique in my opinion and so perfect for Fall. 2 coats.
“The Outer Edge” has mostly white glitter bits with sparse silver glitter in a clear base. This is going to be great for Christmas. It reminds me of the edging on Santa’s suit! I did one coat over “Seeing Red”
This collection was a surprise hit for me. From the photos I had seen, it seemed a bit dull but there are some unique flowers in here and the formulas are breathtaking. If you love a good creme as much as I do, I think you need these in your life. My favorites would have to be “Release”, “History Of The World”, “Intelligence, Integrity & Courage” and “Friends Forever, Right?”
China Glaze can be purchased at tons of different places including Ulta, Sally Beauty, Transdesign and lots of other retailers and E-tailers.
Do you find this collection to be boring, or were you loving them as much as I did?
