Femme Fatale Cosmetics: The Midsummer Night’s Dream Collection Swatches & Review
Hi guys! We’ve made it halfway through the week! Whew! The only thing getting me through this week is all the Fall TV premieres! This week alone some of my favorites are beginning; Black-ish, Modern Family, Law & Order: SVU, Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, How To Get Away With Murder (#TGIT!!!) and rounding it off with Last Man On Earth on Sunday! Plus the new shows of the week that I’ve been looking forward to watching; Life In Pieces, Minority Report, The Muppets, Limitless, Scream Queens, Rosewood and Quantico! And it just keeps getting better in the weeks after, including American Horror Story, Grimm and The Walking Dead (!!!!!!) in October! (<— never enough exclamation points when referring to TWD!) Yeah, I’m a bit of a TV fanatic… just a little bit. ;) What are you guys watching this week? Have any new shows caught your eye?
Now, on to what you came here for, I have something really fun to show you today hailing from Femme Fatale Cosmetics! This collection is based on “the classic Shakespeare play. [Femme Fatale Cosmetics’] primary visual influences were from the 1988 illustrations by Silvia Monti found in the children’s retelling by Naomi Lewis.” I was excited to try out these unique beauties, let’s check them out!
“Maiden’s Patience” has a pale gray-almost white jelly base with tons of teal shimmer and gray and holographic silver glitter. Unique doesn’t even cover this. So pretty and lovely and ethereal to the core. I did 3 coats.
“Love’s Wound” is a cool-toned medium pink or a warm-toned light purple (depending on how you look at it) with lots of gold-y green shimmer. Femme Fatale Cosmetics does a great job at these oddly paired shimmered cremes. I don’t think anyone could pull it off so well. Gorgeous in one coat but I did 2 here.
“Liquid Pearl” has a sheer off-white base with tons of iridescent shimmer and multichrome flakies that shift from purple to blue. The name “Liquid Pearl” is sooooo accurate! It’s like a darling little pearl fresh out of the shell. It’s sheer enough that you could layer it if you want. I did 3 coats on its own for the full effect (note there is still VNL with 3 coats.)
“Spangled Starlight” has tons of holographic silver, blue and pink glitter with tons of blue shimmer in a slightly purple toned clear base. You can see just how sparkly this beauty is in the bottle of the photo below. Glorious! I thought it might be opaque on it’s own but it’s not quite. I did 3 coats alone on my pointer and middle fingers and it wasn’t opaque but still pretty. I did one coat over Zoya “Caitlin” on my ring and pinkie fingers.
“Night And Silence” has blue and green iridescent glitter, shimmer and flakes in a bruised purple jelly base. Well this is interesting and somehow it works well! It’s a bit sheer. It could be layered but I did 3 coats on it’s own and it’s almost opaque. I think next time, I will try it layered over a bruise-colored creme like Rescue Beauty Lounge “Bruised”, Deborah Lippmann “Let’s Stay Together” or Milani “Mauving Forward”!
“But A Dream” is a thermal that shifts from aqua while warm to turquoise while cold with tons of pink shimmer. You can literally never go wrong with a pink and aqua color combo in my book. This is awesome. If you love thermals, you will need it especially! 3 coats.
“Jewels From The Deep” is a lovely jewel-toned teal with emerald green, blue and teal flakies, microglitter and shimmer. Amazing. I knew I’d love this the minute I laid my eyes on it. So perfect. I did 2 coats here.
I really love this group of polishes. “Maiden’s Patience” is probably my most favorite of the group and if I had to pick a least favorite, it would probably be “Night And Silence”. Formula on each of these is effortless. You know the polishes are great when you don’t have to think about a think while swatching!
