Whats Up Nails Presents Creative Shop Stamper: Space Collection Review
Hi guys! Today I have a review of Creative Shop’s new Space Collection stamper! I chose the black and gold stamper. I was excited because it was the first stamper I’ve tried with a dark stamping head and because it was sparkly and looked awesome. Can this stamper beat my tried-and-true favorite stamper, the original Creative Shop Stamper? Let’s take a look!
This stamper has been a long time in the making for Creative Shop! It comes in eight colors; black/blue, black/purple, black/green, black/gold, white/blue, white/purple, white/green and white/gold. Each color has a black or white base color with blue, purple, green or gold shimmer scattered strongly throughout the stamper head. It comes with a newly designed metal holder that is supposed to help with grip and a credit card-like scraper.
It’s a super soft and squishy stamper with a slight tack to it (but not sticky.) It has a little bit of jiggle to it.
The underside of the stamping head is not completely solid like the original Creative Shop Stamper. It’s somewhat hollow with a wagon wheel look to it. It should not require priming. To clean it, it’s recommended that tape or a lint roller is used and not 100% acetone.
Now, let’s take a look at the manicures I created with this stamper:
Products used:
- Base color: Cupcake Polish “Air”
- Stamping color: Emily de Molly “Dark Pink”
- Stamping plate: MoYou London Princess-09
- Stamping style: Light pressure, straight down
Products used:
- Base color: Glisten & Glow “Fire”
- Stamping color: Konad black
- Stamping plate: MoYou London Pro XL-01
- Stamping style: Heavy pressure, straight down
Products used:
- Base color: Chaos & Crocodiles “Turks & Chaos”
- Stamping color: Rica “Whiteout”
- Stamping plate: MoYou London Back To The 60s-04
- Stamping style: Light pressure, rolling motion
Products used:
- Base color: Chaos & Crocodiles “The Bubble Gum Conspiracy”
- Stamping color: Emily de Molly “Light Taupe”
- Stamping plate: MoYou London Pro-11
- Stamping style: Heavy pressure, rolling motion
As you can see, stamping straight down does not work great with this stamper. Rolling is definitely preferred although it still doesn’t come out perfectly. Compared to the original Creative Shop Stamper, I’m not sold on this stamper. It’s almost too squishy for my preference and nail shape. I had a hard time getting it to transfer around the edges of my nail. While I don’t prefer it, there are pros and cons to the Space Collection stamper:
Pros
- Large head for larger designs or longer nails
- Dark stamper heads make it easier to see light colored designs
- Light stamper heads make it easier to see dark colored designs
- Gorgeous stamp head and very aesthetically pleasing
- Picks up fine lines well
- Slightly tacky texture
Cons
- Too squishy
- Too much give in the center (not enough support)
- Broad, somewhat flat head is not as ergonomic for rolling although that is the preferred transfer method.
- Does not pick up well when pressed straight down
- Thicker/larger designs and lines don’t pick up as well
- Can smush out polish from the grooves of the design on the plate resulting in skewed designs
I’m still going to keep trying out this stamper. I didn’t get a chance to do it yet but I am going to try some of their techniques to prime it (which you can do if you have issues.) I will update this post when I get a chance to do that.
