Hi! So, every time I post on a Thursday night, I always just want to say TOMORROW IS FRIDAY! Don’t we all live for the weekend? Sometimes we just need it more than other weeks! :)
Today I have something a little different for you! Gel polish! Bio Seaweed Gel to be exact! I will go ahead and show you swatches first and then give more information on the formula, wear time and brand at the bottom so stay tuned until the end!
“Lucky Charm” is a minty jade green. I used 2 coats.
“Electric” is a neon pink with slight yellow undertones. I used 2 coats.
“Twinkle” is a gold glitter top coat. I used one coat over “Electric”.
This is what the polish looked like after 6 days of wear. There was some chipping on the corners but otherwise it was fine. For how regular polish wears on me (I get 1-2 days wear, TOPS), it was awesome! For someone who gets a decent amount of wear time with regular polish, you could probably get upwards of 2 weeks of wear with these gel polishes.

My thoughts; the formula was good, a little thicker and a touch more tricky to use than regular nail polish but I think most gel polishes are like that. Definitely not impossible to use, it just might take a little bit more care. The first coat on the opaque polishes was a little bit patchy but the second coat concealed the patchiness nicely. These did have a tendency to pool despite the thickness. It would slowly seep to the edges of my nail (especially when curing, I’m assuming because of the heat which probably thinned out the polish a little bit) so make sure you use thinner coats to avoid this. Cured nail polish in the crooks of your nails isn’t the most pleasant thing and is obviously difficult to remove. As far as the curing goes, I used my UV lamp to cure the gel and it worked perfectly in 60 seconds. I haven’t tried curing in sunlight but I find that to be an awesome feature! Especially if you live somewhere sunny.
There were only a couple things I didn’t like. When I applied a coat of the glitter gel after using 2 coats of the opaque gel, it definitely made the end result thick. I didn’t use a base or top coat but I can’t even imagine how thick the gel polish would have been after it was cured if I’d also worn those. I also found the removal to be difficult. I used the foil method and left it on my nails for an excess of 10 minutes; maybe even closer to 20 minutes. On some nails, it wasn’t hard to get off after that but on most of my nails (especially in the center of each nail) it was really difficult to remove. I had to use force with an orange stick and in some spots even, my metal cuticle pusher to remove the polish which ended up taking off a layer of my nail with it. For me, it was not as easy as it seems from the description. I think I will try soaking my nails in straight acetone (even though I prefer not to) and see if that makes a difference for me. Also, I think wearing the polish for longer than 6 days could have helped ease the removal process but I couldn’t keep it on for any longer because I had swatches to do. :) I’m not saying this as a matter-of-fact but I think that might be something to consider.
In a nutshell, I think if I ever go on a vacation for a week or so, this will be a great option for me. Usually while vacationing, regular nail polish ends up not being feasible because of the minimal wear time I get and not having enough time to do fresh manis. So this will be a great alternative. I think this line would be terrific for someone who needs polish to last and doesn’t have the time to do their nails often. Or someone who has my issue, where regular polish only lasts a day or 2. This is a good quality product with a nice shine, great color selection and is decently priced compared to other gel polishes I’ve seen, so it’s great if you are on a budget as well. I also like the option to wear these with or without base and top coats. All-in-all, I will keep these puppies in my arsenal when vacay time rolls around!
