OPI: Glitter Off Natural Nail Peel-Off Base Coat Review

Provided For Review

Hi guys! Today I have a review of OPI’s Glitter Off Base Coat!

OPI decided to throw their hat into the ring and release their version of the Elmer’s/School/PVA Glue “base coats” that have been popular in the nail polish community the past couple years. I was excited to try it out when I heard about it.

This base coat has a nice brush, a little different from OPI’s typical brushes. The bristles are shorter, not quite as wide and are a little stiffer than OPI’s nail polish brushes. The formula is really nice. I found it to be much easier to use than my homemade glue base coat because it was thinner and not so sticky.

It also dried really quickly. By the time I was done doing one hand, it was already 1/3 of the way dry on the other. Once the Glitter Off has dried (you can tell when it’s dry because it looks kinda frosty, is somewhat transparent and is no longer white) I applied my base polish and my glitter polish and followed up with my favorite top coat. Then I went on my merry way.

The next day when I was ready to take it off, removing it was as easy as taking an orange stick and prying up a little corner and the polish literally popped off in little sheets.

All in all, this is really awesome! I’ve said before on my blog that I won’t attest to wear time and this is the perfect example. I did this mani with this Glitter Off Base Coat at night and went to bed. After about 15 or so hours, this mani was ready to come off. The corners of the polish were not adhered to my nails and on a few fingers, the polish even popped off on it’s own. But it’s normal for me to get about one day worth of wear out of any mani (unless the heavens open up and I’m somehow graced with having a perfect mani for another 24 hours. LOL!) Although, wearing a regular base coat would still require more effort to remove a manicure than this peel-off base coat so I still enjoy it. My point is, don’t take my word for it on the wear time. It could be quite different for you. I think it all just depends on your body chemistry!

OPI polishes can be purchased at professional salons including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney Salons, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, Ulta.com and Ulta as well as a lot of other retailers and online. Don’t forget to follow OPI on Facebook for all the OPI news!

hey darlin, i FINALLY tried this - i did my nails tuesday night and a TEENY chip towards the tip of an index finger nail sent the whole thing flying off mid-day on wednesday during work. by evening, i did the dishes and lost 3 nail “sheets” at once. i think they need to work on a longer adhesive for this base coat, but totally genius. soaking in acetone is the most annoying thing EVER.

  • Would LOVE to try this… looked all over for it!
Sad to say its not in any of our stores yet.
