KBShimmer: Fall 2015 Collection Swatches & Review + Mani Shots & Water Decal Review
Hello hello! It’s September 1st and you know what that means? NEW KBSHIMMER COLLECTION! They always knock it out of the park and I always get so excited to see what they come up with next. Not only do I have the collection to review but I also have a review of KBShimmer’s Mani Shots and water decals! Let’s get right to it!
“Carpe Denim” has a deep navy jelly base that’s super dark but not too dark that it appears black and it’s packed with holographic silver glitter and shimmer. OMG you guys. O. M. G. Words can’t express the love I feel for this. It’s perfect. It’s not sheer but still shows off the glitter perfectly! I have it on now and I’m never taking it off. 2 luscious coats!

“Open Toad Shoes” has a olive green crelly base with burgundy, lime and cobalt glitter and sparse holographic shimmer. This isn’t going to be for everyone but I love it. It’s a very unique mix of colors that’s perfect for Fall. 2 coats.

“Be Scareful” has a white crelly base with black and orange glitter that glows bright green in the dark. No one does a white crelly based polish quite like KBShimmer. They are always perfection. This will be perfect for Halloween and the fact that it’s glow in the dark just takes it over the edge! 2 easy coats.

“I’ve Seen Sweater Days” has turquoise, silver, cobalt and emerald glitter with a holographic silver shimmer in a lovely aqua crelly base. I love the sparks of holographic glitter in here mixed with metallic bits. It’s perfect. 2 coats.

“Talk Qwerty To Me” has a teal jelly base with tons gold, teal and purple glass fleck. This is so reflective and beautiful. Totally unique from KBShimmer, I don’t think they’ve done one similar. It’s a real stunner. I did 3 thin coats.

“Breaking Blues” is a blurpley creme, like a deep dark periwinkle. I photographed a little more blue than it is in real life. It’s hard to put your finger on it, but it’s completely gorgeous. And my dudes, it’s a one-coater. Amaze.

“I Feel Gourd-geous” has caramel-y gold holographic microglitter in a clear base. This is lovely. The microglitter is finely milled enough that you could easily do a pretty glitter gradient with it. It’s so perfect. I did 3 thin coats.

“Dark & Twisty” has a black jelly base with a rainbow of small metallic glitter with a subtle golden shimmer. Welp, this is awesome. Reminds me of a KBShimmer original for some reason. Love the name too, I wonder if it was named after Grey’s Anatomy… Meredith calls herself dark & twisty on the regs. :) I did 2 coats.

“Fig-Get About It” is a lovely raisin linear holographic. Gorgeous and gothic and perfect for Fall. Amazing in 2 coats.

“Teal It To My Heart” is a beautiful teal creme. Perfect formula. Lovely color. I thought it may be a stainer because colors like this typically are but I did a wear test using my regular method (one coat of base coat, 2 coats of polish and one coat of top coat) and I’m happy to report, not an ounce of staining! 2 coats here but it’s a one-coater.

“Such A Vlad-Ass” is a super red-toned berry creme. In some lights it’s more red and some lights it’s more pinky toned. Either way, it’s a real stunner. I did 2 coats.

“Soul Deep” is a dark navy creme with purple undertones. This one could appear black at a glance but it’s lovely. 2 coats.

Next up, water decals.

If you’ve never heard of water decals before, they are awesome. You soak them in water for a few seconds and the design slides right off the backing. You then place the decal on your polished nail and apply a coat of top coat which allows the decal to adhere to your nail and for the rest of the design to sort of melt away! I can’t even tell you how easy they are to use. Much, much easier than nail wraps in my opinion. I’ve tried those a couple times and they are awesome but they are a PITA for me and end up destroying my nails from all the buffing and junk you have to do. These on the other hand, besides requiring practice (as you can see a bit here) are simple as hell and they are easy to remove with acetone just like any regular nail polish. I’ll be getting myself a few more sheets of these to say the least. And by a few, I mean, tons. I paired sheet N150 (over white) with KBShimmer “Hugs and Wishes”.

Let’s talk Mani Shots! These are kind of like bath bombs but for your hands (or feet)! There are tons of fabulous scents but I picked 4 of them to try out; Relaxation, Chai Tea, Oatmeal, Milk & Honey and Lilac. The Chai Tea cuticle pen is one of my favorite scents so naturally, I’m obsessed with this Mani Shot but all of the scents are so good.

I’ve been using them now every time before I swatch and they’ve really been helping improve my cuticles. They keep the cutes hydrated. I highly suggest them. I like them so much, I’ve since gotten about 10 more. I think this is something I’ll always have in my nail care arsenal now.
All you do is pop them out of the container into a bowl of warm water, soak your hands for about 10 minutes and then rub your hands together to distribute the oils and pat your hands dry. Done! Here is a short little video I did while I was watching The Office and soaking my mitts. :)
And the result after my first little soak…
